Just when we thought we were ready to go after our morning calibration run and going through the checklist of required equipment, we came to ‘scrutineering’, an inspection of the car by the mechanical staff of the rally. After we dutifully applied all of our decals, we called the team over and learned that our running lights and brake lights did not work. Rally mechanics to the rescue. Two separate issues: a defective brake pedal switch and a short in the right rear taillight assembly. Andy, the mechanic, spent the better part of 2.5 hours tracking down the problems and fixing them. We then passed and were able to get formally signed into the rally. We then attended orientation for navigators, important for me as tomorrow will be my maiden foray giving directions from the passenger seat.

Welcome reception and dinner tonight. We are one of the last cars off tomorrow morning at 8:57. Wish us luck.
